National Night Out an inside success

Despite threatening rain and high humidity, Hyde Park Civic Association’s National Night Out 2017 proved an enjoyable evening for over 300 Hyde Parkers. This year; however, the enjoyment stemmed not merely from the delicious food, but also from being dry-thanks to pastor Ashley Dellagiacoma at Kindred and the Kindred famiy-for keeping us all in good spirits and indoors!

Food contributors to this year’s National Night Out, included Acadian Bakery, Brookstreet BBQ, Capitol Beverage, La Mexicana, Nidda Thai, NIko Niko’s, Pepperoni’s, Pizza L’Vino, Riva’s, Rudyards, and Underbelly/Hay Merchant.

Gift cards and door prizes were supplied by Barnaby’s, Campesino’s Coffee, Dogtopia, Inversion, Les Ba’get, Rosemont, Shaw’s Jewelry, and Ramen Tatsu-Ya.

Advertising for the event was covered generously by Martha Turner Properties realtor Mike Spear and the Westheimer Storefront HPD. George Sroka also helped with flyers.

The entire event’s success was overseen by Chris Delphin, HPCA Vice-President, and it was brought to execution by countless HPCA volunteers, without whom none of the donations, event needs, or set-up and clean-up could have been accomplished. Food was collected for the Houston Food Bank in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and neighbors had the chance to see both new and old faces!
